highlights of business travel

I've been to LA, NY and SF more times than I care to count, but the other night was the first time I went to the ocean. I'd seen it many times, but never actually got down to the water. I only stayed for a few moments, tasted the brackish water, and felt the sand which is finer than what we get off lake Michigan.

My boss had invited me back to his house for dinner and they live just a couple of blocks from the ocean, and half a block from Golden Gate Park. Despite this, their neighboorhood is sleepy and comfortable. No towering condos, no Starbucks or eyewear botiques. Instead there was a grocery store and homes. I was really shocked and encouraged that at least this part of SF was still approachable and modest.
